NBI Clearance A Step-by-Step Guide on How to Apply

An essential document for multiple purposes like employment, travel, and legal matters is the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) clearance. It serves as evidence that an individual has undergone a background check, revealing an absence of criminal records or ongoing criminal cases.

Initiate your application by registering online.

Visit the official NBI clearance website (https://clearance.nbi.gov.ph/) and create an account. Complete the required personal details, encompassing your full name, birthdate, address, and contact information. Before proceeding, verify the accuracy of the provided information.

Once your registration is successfully completed, access your account and choose your preferred appointment date and NBI branch. Utilize the online system to select a suitable time slot from the available options. Consider the branch’s location and opt for the one that best suits your convenience.

Settle the Payment

Proceed to make the requisite payment for your clearance using the provided payment methods. As of the current update, the fee for local employment stands at P155 for residents of the Philippines, whereas for individuals overseas, the fee amounts to P155, with an additional P200 for NBI Clearance certificate authentication.

Payment methods could differ based on your location, but typical choices encompass over-the-counter payments at authorized banks or payment centers, online banking, and e-wallets. It’s crucial to retain the payment transaction receipt as evidence of your payment.

Appear in Person

At the designated date and time, make your way to the chosen NBI branch for your personal appearance. Dress suitably and carry valid identification, such as a passport, driver’s license, or any government-issued ID displaying your full name, birthdate, address, and photograph. To be safe, bring a minimum of two valid IDs.

Capture of Biometric Data and Photograph

Upon reaching the NBI branch, adhere to the guidance of NBI personnel and make your way to the Biometric Data Capture section. Here, your photograph will be taken, and your fingerprints will be digitally scanned for record-keeping purposes. Subsequent to the biometric data capture, transition to the printing section. Your particulars and photograph will undergo verification, leading to the printing of your NBI Clearance. Examine the information on the document for inaccuracies or inconsistencies. Should you identify any errors, promptly notify the personnel for rectification.

Collecting Your NBI Clearance

Usually, the NBI clearance can be collected on the same day. Stay attentive to announcements and adhere to personnel instructions regarding the clearance release process. Have a valid ID at the ready for identification when retrieving your clearance.

How does NBI Clearance differ from Police Clearance?

The clearance and NBI and Police Clearance include identical information. However, the contrasting factor lies in the geographical extent of a Police Clearance, which is confined to the issuing locality. In contrast, the clearance from NBI does not bear this constraint, spanning across the entirety of the Philippines.
